Is Down To Earth Getting an Anime? Everything You Need to Know

Down to Earth Anime

Romance Manhwa fans haven’t had many anime options until recently. Titles like Who Made Me a Princess, Doctor Elise and True Beauty were among the few adaptations available for years. But with the global success of Solo Leveling, more and more webtoon-based anime projects are being announced – which also increases the chances for romance-focused series to make the jump to animation.

I love this development so much. There are many romance anime out there, but the stories often remain unfinished or the animation quality varies a lot. With more Webtoons getting adaptations, I hope that some of the lovely, underrated romance stories finally reach a wider audience and get the treatment they deserve.

The newest addition to this growing list is Down to Earth. Here is everything you need to know. In the meantime: Check out my completed Romance Manhwa recommendations.

Down To Earth Is Getting an Anime

The popular WEBTOON romance series Down To Earth by Pookie Senpai is officially being adapted into an animated project. The announcement comes as part of a major collaboration between WEBTOON Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, who plan to co-produce ten fan-favorite webcomic titles for global distribution.

As Variety reports, this partnership represents a “significant expansion of Webtoon Entertainment’s animation pipeline.” The projects will be selected from both the Korean and English WEBTOON platforms, with development support coming from Webtoon Productions in the U.S. and WEBTOON’s Japanese IP teams.

Key Facts About the Upcoming Down to Earth Anime

Down to Earth: The WEBTOON x Warner Bros. Deal

As Variety reports, this collaboration aims to bring mobile-born stories to life on a global scale. WEBTOON currently reaches around 155 million monthly active users, and previous WEBTOON adaptations have already appeared on Netflix, Prime Video, Crunchyroll and more.

With more titles to be announced later.

Down To Earth Anime: What We Know About a Release Date

Because the collaboration has only just been announced, there is no release window yet – not even a rough estimate. Development has officially begun, but it is still in the earliest stages.

On her WEBTOON creator profile, Pookie Senpai wrote:

“Exciting news! Warner Bros Animation has picked Down to Earth for development! I’m so honored and excited… and it’s all thanks to you guys. I will post more updates on the matter once I’m able. Is this something you guys would like to see? Let me hear your opinions.”
