I still remember the day I started reading I Stan the Prince. There are very few manhwa that hooked me from the very first chapter the way this one did. The art is gorgeous, the characters are fun, and the whole world Zoosun built feels vibrant and alive. Like many other readers, I’m still eagerly waiting for the hiatus to end.
Here’s everything that has been officially announced about when I Stan the Prince might continue – including Zoosun’s long personal statement from January 2026 and the April update about their new project.
When will I Stan the Prince return? Current Official Status (as of April 21, 2026)
There has been some confusion about whether I Stan the Prince was discontinued – but rest assured, it was not. The series is on an indefinite hiatus, confirmed by both main distribution platforms:
- Tappytoon (English): Listed as “Notice · Hiatus” on the series page.
- KakaoPage (Korean original): Marked with “휴재 (Hiatus)” on the official series page.
In January 2026, Zoosun shared an important update: they plan to start another project first in order to establish a healthier and more sustainable working rhythm. The statement makes it clear how important I Stan the Prince is to the artist, but it also suggests the series will still take a considerable amount of time to return. In April 2026, Zoosun announced the new project: It’s called The Scandal Maker Has Returned.
When Will I Stan the Prince Come Back? – Hiatus Timeline
The series has experienced multiple breaks since its launch:
- First hiatus: August 2020 – April 2021
- Second hiatus: May – July 2021 (about two months)
- Long hiatus: December 2021 – October 2023
- Current hiatus: Since January 2024, after the release of Episode 79
I Stan the Prince: Reason for the Hiatus and new official statement
In January 2026, Zoosun shared a long and strikingly personal statement about why I Stan the Prince has been on hiatus for so long. It’s one of the most honest creator posts I’ve read in a while, and it makes clear that the pause isn’t about lost motivation – it’s about a body and mind that hit their limit.
A few things stood out to me:
Zoosun has been working on I Stan the Prince for over seven years when you count preparation time, and the series has been a part of their entire 20s and 30s. Around the end of Season 1, they were sleeping in a bed only about one day per week – the rest of the time was spent at the desk. At one point, their editor became so worried after not being able to reach Zoosun that she drove to the studio together with Zoosun’s mother.
Zoosun also explained that the overall plot and ending of I Stan the Prince were set from the very beginning. The ambition was always to deliver high-quality art at a pace that could compete with other top webtoons – and that ambition, combined with stubbornness about their own creative direction, made compromise difficult. They describe this openly as something they now want to learn.
The important takeaway for readers: I Stan the Prince is not cancelled, and Zoosun has said they fully intend to finish the story. The plan is to first work on a different, smaller project to rebuild a healthier rhythm, and then return to ISTP. No official return date has been announced. Here is the key part of the statement:
Looking back during this break,
I realized that in order to continue I Stan the Prince,
I personally need more space and stability, both physically and mentally.
After a long period of careful consideration,
I have very cautiously decided to restart webtoon production
by working on another project first, even if only temporarily,
as had been suggested to me.
Through a new work,
I want to learn how to better manage my pace and accept compromise.
By establishing a healthier production rhythm and sense of balance,
I plan to return to I Stan the Prince again.
Exactly two years earlier, in January 2024, Zoosun had already shared a brief statement.
No further updates followed in the time between.
In both messages, the creator’s regret over being unable to continue the series is clearly felt:
Episode 79 has been uploaded. After that, we will be going on a short hiatus.
You have waited for such a long time, and I feel sorry to bring such disappointing news so soon after returning.
Since I tend not to take good care of myself, it ends up affecting both my work and this series, and I keep letting down the people who help and cheer me on.
Recovery of my health is not something I can give a clear answer about, so I cannot say yet how long the hiatus will last.
But I will do my best to return as soon as possible.
Thank you, as always, for cherishing I Stan the Prince.
I’ll be back soon…!
I Stan the Prince: Official Notice from Mstoryhub
On January 10, 2024, Mstoryhub – Zoosun’s management and publisher – also issued a notice:
Although the creator has been steadily producing manuscripts since returning, their health has recently deteriorated significantly. Given the current health condition, it has been judged difficult to continue additional work. Therefore, starting next week, the series will go on hiatus to allow time for recovery and reorganization.
The schedule for resuming serialization will be announced later through another notice. We sincerely ask for your continued love and support for I Stan the Prince and for artist Zoo Sun (죽선).
This confirms that the hiatus is health-related and does not mean the series has been cancelled.
Revisions & Updates to Earlier Episodes
For readers who want to revisit the story while waiting, there have been official updates to existing chapters:
- Art corrections: Episodes 1, 2, 5, 6, 13, 14, 15
- Dialogue corrections: Episodes 21, 42, 78
- Additional dialogue revision: Episode 66
If you purchased these chapters before, you can delete them from your library and re-download the updated versions without any additional cost.
No Release Date for I Stan the Prince Yet – What International Readers Should Expect
As of now, there is no official return date for Chapter 80 or Season 2. Even when the series resumes in Korea on KakaoPage, readers outside Korea should expect delays. Translation and scheduling mean that Tappytoon often runs weeks or even months behind the original.
Until then, the best ways to stay updated are:
- Follow Zoo Sun on Instagram: @zoosun816
- Turn on notifications on Tappytoon
- Check the KakaoPage series page for I Stan the Prince
Final Thoughts
I Stan the Prince is not discontinued, but on an indefinite hiatus due to the creator’s health. Both Zoosun and Mstoryhub have been transparent throughout, and in April 2026 Zoosun made their first concrete step back into webtoon production – joining The Scandal Maker Has Returned on Naver as a line artist. It’s a smaller, supportive role, which fits exactly what Zoosun said they needed: a chance to rebuild a healthier rhythm before returning to ISTP. No release date has been announced yet, but the direction is finally forward.
