If you’re into mafia romance as a webtoon reader, you’re not exactly spoiled for choice. There are way more mafia romance manga out there than manhwa. But don’t worry, I’ve got 7 picks for you, so there’s a little something for everyone!
Mafia Romance Manhwa: A Quick Overview to Help You Choose
- If you’re here for the spice, definitely check out Ties That Bind Us or Tears on a Withered Flower.
- If you love a good mystery and prefer a more subtle mafia plotline, go for My Reason to Die or Purple Hyacinth.
- If you love childcare manhwa and want to see what happens when you mix it with mafia romance, The Mafia Nanny is the one for you.
- If you’re into reverse harems, give My Clueless Love Diary a try.
- If you want to support a small WEBTOON Canvas creator and discover a hidden gem, check out My Promise to You.
Ties that Bind Us
Summary: If you’re used to Webtoon’s typically very censored adult content, Ties that Bind Us will surprise you with how much it shows in chapter 2. Honestly, Webtoon’s policy on adult content is confusing. Canvas artists get flagged for showing a little skin, but this somehow gets through. Anyway, Ties that Bind Us has good art and will scratch the mafia romance itch, but it won’t be the best Webtoon you’ll ever read. The story follows Ava, the ‘screwup’ of the Moretti family (her father treats her badly and her siblings just watch ) and Nick Caponelli, the heir to her family’s rival empire. Fun bonus fact: it’s based on a Wattpad story.
You should check it out if you:
- Don’t mind a very intense, weird, and pushy second ML
- Love it when the male lead “falls first and falls harder”, while the female lead stays distrustful
- Like spice in your romance
Mafia Nanny
Summary: Davina became an elite nanny after losing her parents at a very young age. The job is more than just work for her though. She is determined to find out who was responsible for their murder, and becoming a nanny is part of that plan. And as these stories go, our ML Gabriel Angelini, a supposed ruthless mafia boss, happens to be looking for one.
You should read if you:
- Love reading an Action Romance Manhwa with great art
- Don’t mind reading a slow burn, where they don’t have that many genuine moments full of tension together, before the romance starts
- Love the childcare trope – even with all the action and mystery, the childcare aspect still plays an important and consistent role in the story
My Promise to You
Summary: My Promise to You is a drama webtoon on WEBTOON Canvas that’s all about revenge. The protagonist, Aria, lost her entire family in a massive explosion. On that day, she saw Yelan and assumed he was the one behind it all. With hatred in her heart, she dedicated her life to becoming his bodyguard so she could take revenge.
The art is fantastic, the creator Potcha is an absolute delight, and the story and its mysteries are really intriguing. You should definitely check it out! It updates once a month.
My Clueless Love Diary
Summary: Cho-eun, heir to the powerful underground clan Hongsal, just wants a normal college life with new friends and no drama. But as soon as she steps outside her clan’s protective walls, the MLs just keep coming…
I’d recommend this one if you’re in the mood for a reverse harem mafia romance where the FL gets doted on by all the clan members. BUT don’t expect a satisfying ending, as the story ends very abruptly.
You should read if you:
- Love reading a Romance Manhwa with godlike art
- Don’t mind when the first 25 chapters are literally just introducing new guys that develop an interest for the FL. And then it ends at chapter 50.
- Like reading a Romance Manhwa with a strong FL – physically and mentally
My Reason to Die
Summary: My Reason to Die is not your typical mafia romance, especially because it starts in high school. Our ML, Gyeol, gets involved in some shady business after the time skip, but since this one is such a good read, I just had to include it!
The story follows Ji-o, who dreams of making the national taekwondo team. Unfortunately, an injury right before the tryouts puts her dream on hold. Around that time, she meets Gyeol, a mysterious boy who catches her interest quickly. Author Yuju wants us to think that he’s a walking red flag, but after reading, you’ll know better.
Check it out if you:
- Love stories packed with tension – it doesn’t get better than My Reason to Die
- Love it when a romance webtoon is full of mysteries and you can’t predict where the story is going from chapter one
- Love it when the ML seems all dominant at first but turns out to be super caring and supportive of the FL.
Tears on a Withered Flower
GAE
Summary: Tears on a Withered Flower is a very spicy mafia romance, so if you’re into that, you’ll probably love it. But there isn’t much to say about the actual plot except that an “older,” incredibly beautiful woman with Barbie-like proportions gets cheated on by her absolute dirtbag of a husband and starts finding comfort in the arms of a younger man who isn’t exactly who he pretends to be.
I’m personally not a big fan of Tears on a Withered Flower, but this list wouldn’t feel complete without it.
Check this mafia romance webtoon out if you:
- Value spice more than story
- Love when an older FL for a younger guy
- Don’t mind that the cheating ex still has a very big role in this story
Purple Hyacinth
Summary: Our FL, Lauren, has a pretty rare ability: she can tell when someone is lying, which makes her a great police officer. But she’s also determined to uncover the truth behind a tragedy that took the lives of the people closest to her. On a mission, she meets Kieran, who is supposed to be her enemy, but has information that can bring her closer to her goal: revenge. So they start working together. Purple Hyacinth has been on Hiatus for a long time, but is bound to come back with season 3.
You should read if you:
- Are not mainly looking for romance. There is good tension and an established second couple, but this is a mystery Drama first and foremost
- Love some incredibly well-written plot twists and don’t mind if the mafia aspect isn’t as straightforward as “mafia boss meets helpless girl and they fall in love.”
- Like the enemies-to-lovers trope
