Ending Maker Hiatus News

Ending Maker Is Finally Returning on Kakao –Why Tapas Readers Still Have to Wait

Ending Maker has been on hiatus for a while, leaving many readers unsure if it’s cancelled or paused. Here’s a clear overview of the current status and latest updates.

Ending Maker went on hiatus in mid-2024, but after a long wait, Kakao has now confirmed it will return on April 29, 2026. Before this, updates were scattered and fans often asked on Reddit if the action romance manhwa was canceled or just paused. Here’s a clear summary of the hiatus, the return date, and what’s next.

Ending Maker Hiatus – TL;DR

  • Current chapter count: 67
  • English publisher: Tapas
  • Korean publisher: Kakao
  • Hiatus on Kakao since: July 2024
  • Hiatus on Tapas since: January 31, 2025
  • Reason for hiatus: Health issues of artist DOES
  • Novel status: Finished
  • Official Kakao return date: April 29, 2026 KST
  • Tapas return date: not confirmed yet

Ending Maker Return Date confirmed

After over a year of waiting, Kakao has announced that Ending Maker will return on April 29, 2026 KST on KakaoPage. This date is for the Korean release only. The English version on Tapas does not have a confirmed return date yet. More details on that are below.

Hello, this is Carrottoon.

First of all, we sincerely thank all readers who have been waiting for a long time. Ending Maker is scheduled to return on April 29 (April 28 at 22:00). To ensure a smooth release schedule and maintain the quality of the series, we will follow this system: 1 break after every 5 episodes. The scheduled breaks for the first half of 2026 are May 30 / July 11. Please keep this in mind when reading, and we appreciate your continued interest and support after the series returns. Thank you.

English Release Date: When Will Ending Maker Episode 68 Release on Tapas?

Carrottoon’s announcement is only about the Korean release on KakaoPage. Tapas, which publishes the English version, has not given a return date yet. As of April 29, 2026 KST, the Tapas page still lists 67 episodes, and the hiatus notice from January 31, 2025 remains at the top. There are no new chapters or updates.

This does not mean Tapas will not follow. The English release usually comes out after the Korean one, but until Tapas makes an announcement, international readers do not have a confirmed date. I will update this article when that changes.

The Kakao hiatus started in July 2024, while Tapas kept publishing until January 31, 2025 – a gap of about seven months, since Tapas was still working through translated episodes after the Korean release had stopped. If that same gap holds for the return, English readers wouldn’t see new episodes until around late November 2026.

What to Expect After the Return

Carrottoon also shared the upcoming release schedule with the Korean return date. Ending Maker will release five episodes, then take a short break after each set. The first breaks in 2026 are planned for May 30 and July 11. This schedule helps prevent another long hiatus, considering the artist’s health.

Ending Maker: When Did the Hiatus Start?

The English release officially went on hiatus at the start of 2025. Tapas posted an announcement on January 31, 2025, explaining that the series would pause to give the creative team more time to work on new episodes.

The last official update on Kakao was published on July 5, 2024:

Hello, this is Carrotoon.
Ending Maker, which was scheduled to be uploaded on July 6, will be entering a long-term hiatus due to unavoidable delays in production caused by the author’s health.
We will inform you about the exact return schedule through a future notice.
We kindly ask for your support and encouragement for the author’s recovery, and for your generous understanding.
Thank you.

🥕 Sincerely, Carrotoon

Before this long break, there were a few shorter pauses, but the production team kept assuring fans that Ending Maker would continue. The original author, 취룡 (Chwiryong), also posted on Twitter (X) that the illustrator, DOES, was still working on the series and that they hoped to return early the next year, though no date was set. These plans were later delayed.

Is Ending Maker Canceled?

No, the series is not canceled. Kakao has confirmed an official return date of April 29, 2026, and shared the release schedule for the following months. The series is coming back.

Before this, all statements described the situation as a hiatus, not a cancellation. Notices from platforms and publishers always called it a temporary pause, and there was never an official message from Kakao, Tapas, or Carrottoon saying the webtoon was discontinued. The confirmed return date now removes any remaining doubts.

That’s great news because Webtoon and Tapas have a history of unclear hiatus communication. A recent example is the confusion around Roxana on Tapas, where many readers assumed the series was canceled despite the lack of an official announcement.

Why Is the Series on Hiatus?

The English Tapas announcements never mentioned medical details, but Kakao published two official notices that clarified the situation. The most detailed statement, released on October 27, 2023, explained:

Hello, this is Carrotoon from Ending Maker.

The artist DOES, who is in charge of the Ending Maker webtoon, has been experiencing difficulties with her work due to essential tremor in both hands and sleep disorder symptoms.
In order to allow the artist to recover her health and to ensure the future continuation of the series, we have unavoidably decided to take a three-month hiatus.
We will provide another notice with the exact return date once a specific schedule has been confirmed.
We kindly ask for the readers’ generous understanding and for your warm support and encouragement for the artist’s recovery.

This is still the most detailed official explanation for the long break.

Ending Maker: Novel vs. Manhwa

Fans who want to keep reading the story do not have to wait. The original novel is already complete, so it provides a full ending even if the webtoon does not return.

The manhwa adaptation stays close to the novel but is still far behind in the story. When the series went on hiatus in 2024, the webtoon had only covered the early parts of the novel. Readers say chapter 67 of the webtoon matches about chapter 56 of the novel, so much of the plot remains.

Readers have also noticed that the comic moves at a slow and detailed pace. If the webtoon keeps adapting the novel at this speed, it will probably take many more years to finish the story.
