Operation True Love Return – a quick timeline and overview
The release date of Chapter 109 on the Korean app is now confirmed, but what does that mean for international readers? There’s no official release date for WEBTOON Global yet, so let’s look at the timeline:
- Season 2 began with Chapter 90 on Friday, May 17, 2024, on the Korean Naver Webtoon app.
On the international WEBTOON app, Chapter 90 was released on Friday, May 31, 2024.
- This means the schedule was two weeks apart. If this delay stays consistent, Chapter 109 could be released on WEBTOON Global on September 12, 2025.
Operation True Love: Why the Hiatus Happened
Initially, the artist planned to return with new chapters in June, but her health worsened. In a post from April, she confirmed that Operation True Love would return at the end of August.
Translated with KI:
Hello, this is Deulddeum.
I hope all my readers have been doing well.
I thought some of you might be curious about my recent situation and when I’ll be returning, so I wanted to share a short update.
I previously mentioned that I’d announce my comeback date as soon as it was confirmed. At the time, I promised myself I’d be back no later than June… but recently, my wrist has been giving me trouble, making it hard to work. Thankfully, it hasn’t stopped me from drawing, but it’s difficult to work for long stretches, so progress has been slow. 😭
In terms of workload, I actually have more time than during live serialization, so it’s frustrating that my wrist is acting up now of all times. Still, I’m also grateful this didn’t happen while episodes were releasing weekly. Thanks to everyone who hasn’t forgotten about Operation: True Love and has been patiently waiting. Your support makes me feel both anxious and relieved at the same time… haha.
Honestly, this “update” is just an excuse—this message’s true purpose is to give a promise to readers who’ve been endlessly waiting. (I never realized how heavy it feels to keep someone waiting like this…)It’s taking longer than expected, but I’m working hard to return by the end of August.
Since I’ve said it out loud, I must absolutely keep that promise, right? Haha…
I’m sorry it feels like such a long wait, but I’m doing this to ensure we can go all the way to the finale without any more breaks, so I ask for your understanding. 😥
Now, I’ll get back to working hard. Dear readers, please always stay healthy and happy.P.S. I’ll leave you with a few sketches I drew to loosen up my hand, and some work-in-progress panels.
– With love, Deulddeum
Operation True Love before the Hiatus: What happened so far in Season 2 (SPOILERS!)
The hiatus came at a particularly awkward time because many fans were still reeling from the timeskip. One moment, Eunhyuk and Soo-Ae were finally together and happy, and in the very next chapter, we suddenly got hit with the line, “Eunhyuk disappeared completely from my life”, followed by a nine-year timeskip. Nine years!
Apparently, one of my favorite green-flag male leads ghosted his new girlfriend for nine years after only trying to call her once. I’m eager to see how the author plans to unfold Season 2, and my hunch is that Soo-Ae might end up with our second male lead, Dohwa. Would I like that? Not at this point in time, but we’ll see how the story develops.
