Selfish Romance is one of my favorite romance Manhwa. Season 1 of Selfish Romance ended on June 26, 2025, with Episode 51 on WEBTOON and on May 13, 2025, on the Naver platform. In the latest update, Gyogyo Park confirmed that it won’t take long. They want to release season 2 in the spring. Here’s everything officially confirmed.

Selfish Romance Season 2 is confirmed, but still no release date
After the finale, creator Gyogyo Park posted multiple updates on Instagram, repeating the same key points:
- Season 2 is in the works.
- It’s taking longer than expected.
- The creator will share news once there’s a concrete date.
- The latest update on season 2 came in a promotional post for Naver Webtoon, where the creator said that Selfish Romance will return in spring – which would mean very soon.
In the finale episode of season 1 Gyogo Park posted some personal thoughts about the Hiatus:
Partial Translation: “Selfish Romance is currently a little over 50% complete. I think it’s an awkward time to take a break, but I apologize to my readers for my recent frequent lateness and poor health, and I’m not entirely satisfied with the results ㅜㅜ I’ll prepare well during my hiatus, so please be patient! I’ll occasionally upload doodles and update you! Thank you.”
This was Gyogyo Parks first delay announcement on July 26th:
Translation: “How have you all been? I’m doing well! Preparations for Season 2 of Selfish Romance have taken longer than expected, so it might take a little longer to return. I’ll do my best, so please wait a little longer..! Well, I’ll be back with more news!”
She’s Also Revising Older Episodes
In a recent post, Gyogyo Park shared that she’s been revising earlier chapters of Selfish Romance during the hiatus.
- She last shared that she’d revised up to Episode 3, but hasn’t posted about it since. Whether she’s still chipping away at it or shifted focus entirely to Season 2, we don’t know.
- She plans to continue making changes until the series returns.
- She hinted it might be fun for fans to re-read the series later and spot what’s different.
This means she’s splitting her time between rest, revisions, and other projects – which could further delay new episodes for Season 2.
The KDCA Special Project – Why Season 2 Might Be Delayed
In August 2025, Gyogyo Park revealed she’d been picked as this year’s artist for ㅋㄷㅋㄷ만화 – an annual brand webtoon by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), running since 2018. Each year, a different webtoon artist is commissioned to deliver public health messaging (mostly around HIV and STI awareness) in their own style, and Park brought the Selfish Romance universe along for her round.

What “Wednesday Webtoons” Actually Means
“Wednesday Webtoons” is not a separate app – it’s a schedule category on WEBTOON for series that update every Wednesday.
However, the KDCA project is only available on the Korean version of Naver Webtoon, not on the English/global WEBTOON app.
There are a few reasons the KDCA project stays in Korea:
- The Korean Disease Control Agency commissioned it for a Korean audience, so it was never intended for international release.
- For now, your only option is Naver Webtoon Korea, and that usually means a VPN or a Korean account. Honestly though, I doubt the VPN trick works here – making a Naver account from outside Korea is nearly impossible. I tried it myself, and even after sending them a copy of my passport, I couldn’t get verified.
Selfish Romance: Korean vs. Global Release Dates for Season 2
The Selfish Romance Season 1 finale (Episode 51) was released on May 13, 2025 on Naver Webtoon in Korea — about six weeks earlier than the global English version, which came out on June 26, 2025 on WEBTOON.
This gap is standard: Naver Webtoon is the original platform, and episodes there typically appear weeks or months before their translated release on WEBTOON English. That means even when an official release date for Season 2 is announced, English readers will likely have to wait around six more weeks after the Korean debut to read it. That also explains why she posted her first delay announcement only four weeks after the finale of season 1.
