“The Witch and The Bull” Returns June 3, 2026 for Its Final Season

"The Witch and The Bull" ends its hiatus on June 3, 2026. Creator Moonsia confirms the return will carry the story all the way to the finale.

The Witch and The Bull is a romantic fantasy series on Webtoon, known for its magic and stunning artwork. It’s been on hiatus, but creator Moonsia has confirmed it will return on June 3, 2026. Here’s what you need to know.

What is The Witch and The Bull about?

The Witch and The Bull takes place in a fantasy kingdom recovering from a war between humans and witches. Tan, the young king’s proud royal advisor, despises witches, so it’s fitting when he’s cursed and wakes up as a bull. The only one who can help him is Aro, a cafe owner and the Constellation Witch, whose cafe Tan had just shut down the day before. Together, they travel to break the curse, while bigger threats begin to emerge. The story’s world is inspired by Mediterranean places like Croatia and Morocco, with Greek zodiac themes, and the constellation magic is some of the most beautiful art on Webtoon.

What we can take from this post

Moonsia has planned the ending for The Witch and The Bull, and there won’t be any more breaks until the story finishes. In another post, she mentioned spending early 2026 traveling between Taiwan, Vietnam, and Briançon, and that her creativity really picked up around mid-February, matching what she said about working faster. So, the buffer is real, and the finale is in progress. If you’re interested in her Kickstarter, she’s releasing Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the comic in print, which is the focus of the campaign.

Who is Moonsia?

Moonsia, whose real name is Jennifer Chuu, was born in the US, grew up in Taipei, and worked in New York for eight years before becoming a digital nomad. The Witch and The Bull started on Webtoon in January 2020 and has gained over 70 million views. Much of the comic’s worldbuilding is inspired by her travels. In a few posts on her Webtoon creator page she explained that the bull-curse premise grew out of one of her own older short story ideas – a more eastern-folklore-style tale about a lazy merchant cursed into an ox – which she reworked using astrology and the Greek zodiac.

Moonsia quote on inspiration for the Witch and The Bull

Is The Witch and The Bull heavy on romance?

The Witch and The Bull is a high fantasy story with rich lore and plenty of magic. The main draw is the world and story, not the romance, though there is some. Tan and Aro tease each other a lot, and there’s plenty of tension, even though Tan spends most of the time as a bull. If you like slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers stories, you might enjoy it. They become a couple around chapter 120, so you’ll know what to expect.

Just a heads-up: around chapter 80, Aro’s ex appears at a festival as she and Tan are getting closer, and she leaves with him – they even kiss. So, as mentioned, The Witch and The Bull is best enjoyed for its creative magical world, not just the romance.
