What Is Honey Lemon Soda About?

Ishimori Uka was labeled “Stone” in middle school and was constantly bullied. When she enters high school, she has one big goal: she wants to have friends, be more outgoing, and actually express herself. With the help of Kai – the popular guy every girl in school swoons over – Uka slowly comes out of her shell. It doesn’t get any more “popular guy falls for the unpopular girl” than this. Kai is loved by everyone, Uka can’t even talk properly in the beginning and doesn’t have friends. If you want the classic shoujo package – the “kyaaah” from the girls in the manga, the grand gestures, the constant happy tears, just pure cheesiness that will make you smile – this is it.

The Final Chapter

The last chapter clocked in at 63 pages with a color opening spread, and it was featured the cover of Ribon’s May issue. Murata clearly wanted to give the story a proper send-off.

Volume 31, the final collected volume, is set for release on May 25, 2026. On top of that, Ribon is running two consecutive special supplements: the June issue (May 2) will include the Honey Lemon Soda Illustration Book: Jewel Box – a 32-page full-color booklet – and the July issue (June 3) will have another fan-focused bonus as stated in a press realase in PR Times.

Will There Be a Season 2 of the Anime?

This is probably what most of you are wondering. The anime adaptation by J.C.Staff aired from January to March 2025 on Fuji TV’s +Ultra block and was streamed internationally on Crunchyroll. It covered the early arcs of the manga and ended like 99 percent of all the Shoujo anime out there: Somewhere random. At least in Honey Lemon Soda it ends with them (kind of) getting together.

As of right now, there is no official announcement for Season 2. No confirmation from J.C.Staff, TMS Entertainment, or Crunchyroll. But the manga ending could actually work in the anime’s favor: studios sometimes wait for the source material to finish before committing to a full adaptation, and with 30+ volumes of material and only a fraction adapted so far, there’s plenty of story left to tell.

Where to Read Honey Lemon Soda

The manga is published in English by Yen Press, with Volume 11 releasing on April 28, 2026. Yen Press doesn’t have its own reading app – you can buy the digital volumes through platforms like BOOK☆WALKER, Amazon Kindle, Kobo, or Apple Books. So if you’re an English reader, you still have a long way to go before catching up. If you want to watch the anime, Season 1 is streaming on Crunchyroll with subtitles and dubs.
