Is Your Ryan worth reading? Short review
Yes!! There are only 24 chapters so far, but I strongly encourage you to read Your Ryan. Not only is it a historical romance manhwa without regression or isekai elements, it also feels like a breath of fresh air in terms of storytelling. It’s a fun, light read where the male lead has to hide his identity, while the female lead is a fan of who he really is. The moments where she defends him in front of a large crowd are especially delightful. And although they don’t like each other at first, their dynamic works wonderfully right from the beginning. It also gives off Bridgerton vibes.
artstyle: gorgeous
Although the art isn’t always very detailed, the face shapes and expressions are especially strong and truly stand out.
romance: develops quickly, great chemistry
Although they start off on the wrong foot, they grow closer pretty quickly. Either way, the romance stands out because they have such great chemistry. You can feel them growing more fond of each other with every chapter.
characters: great cast of characters
The side characters haven’t had much screen time yet, but both protagonists have interesting friends who add to the story. The male lead’s two chaotic friends stand out in particular, and I’m already looking forward to a potential second couple forming.
protagonists: chaotic and hilarious FL, chivalrous but depressed ML
The male lead carries deep trauma from the war, yet is still cast aside by the authorities. The female lead, however, understands him and openly supports him. And then there’s this detail: the female lead draws naked men in her free time, which pretty much says everything about her bold and funny personality.
Read if you…
- love the hidden identity trope, especially when one of the protagonists is drawn to the real person behind it. Your Ryan handles this perfectly
- love reading a fun lighthearted story, without isekai or regression
- like it when the FL has her own way of doing things and is hilarious and bold
- love when the romance feels very natural. They start respecting each other more and more
Skip if you…
- don’t like when the ML lies to the FL because he has to hide his identity
- love angsty reads. This isn’t it
- don’t read historical romances without political intrigue
- don’t like bickering protagonists
