What Happened to My Lucky Strike on Webtoon?

What happened to my lucky strike ending

My Lucky Strike was one of my favorite new finds in 2025. The female lead feels refreshing, the art is absolutely stunning, and the dynamic between the two protagonists works really well. That’s why the abrupt ending came as a surprise to many readers, myself included.
So what exactly happened? Was the story cut short, or was it planned this way?

If you are in need of some high school romance manhwa or modern romance manhwa check out my recommendations.

Is My Lucky Strike Completed?

Yes, My Lucky Strike is officially completed. On Naver Webtoon in Korea, the final chapter, Episode 91, was published on January 14, 2026. The English version on Webtoon is already available as well, but it is currently locked behind a paywall. Based on Webtoon’s usual release schedule, the final episodes should become free to read in about three weeks. There is no indication that the story was cut short, but the ending still feels very abrupt.

Will My Lucky Strike Get Side Stories?

No, My Lucky Strike will not receive any side stories.

However, on Naver Webtoon, the author Park Sseu-dam published one additional black-and-white episode that takes place nine years later. This episode functions more like an epilogue or a time-skip rather than a side story. It can be read for free and does not require an account, although it is only available in Korean.

Season 2: What Happened to My Lucky Strike?

While Season 1 received very positive feedback, Season 2 sparked more mixed reactions. Some readers criticized changes in the art style, which led to a noticeable shift in the comment sections.

One comment under the final episode on Naver Webtoon summarizes this sentiment:

“(...) On one hand, the abrupt ending is truly disappointing. On the other hand, I think I might have understood the creator better if I had read the series from the beginning knowing how much she was struggling.
I hope she does not take the comments too much to heart, takes some time to rest, and, even if the story takes a different direction, comes back to us with her next work (...)”

Personally, I have read every episode of Season 2 and can’t agree that the art quality dropped significantly. And even if some changes were noticeable, the fact that the author quietly continued and completed the story deserves recognition.

That said, it’s important to be careful here. The author herself never publicly stated that she struggled due to health issues or personal circumstances. She doesn’t have social media accounts, nor does she have a creator account on Naver where she communicates directly with readers. So the fact that “she was struggling” was never publicly confirmed. The fact that she supposedly never planned a Season 2 was also never publicly announced.

The Author’s Final Statement

On the bonus episode on Naver she wrote her final message to readers:

My lucky strike author final statement
“Hello!
I’m Park Sseu-dam, the creator of My Lucky Strike.
Did you enjoy the little bonus scenes and updates?

The journey of serialization came with many ups and downs, and before I knew it, I found myself drawing the afterword comic.

It feels like if you keep moving forward quietly, you eventually reach an ending.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who helped me make it all the way to the final episode.
I’m especially grateful to all the readers who stayed with the series and enjoyed it, even though it had many shortcomings.

I’ll take a short moment to sit with the feeling of this ending, and then I hope to meet you again through another work.

This statement confirms the end of the series, but it does not provide any detailed explanation for the abrupt pacing of the final chapters.

My Thoughts on the Ending of My Lucky Strike

The ending caught me off guard as well. The rating of the final episode on Naver reflects that. It has “only” 7,81, while almost all other episodes are rated above 9 (out of 10) stars. That gap alone shows how divisive the ending was for many readers.

Across the entire series, we only get two kisses, and I was hoping for more moments between the leads or at least a graduation scene together. Cheong’s family situation also doesn’t feel fully resolved, although he does manage to move out, which offers some closure. The love triangle, meanwhile, is wrapped up rather quickly, but that already happens at the beginning of Season 2.

Despite these “shortcomings” if you even want to call it that, I still really love this Webtoon. Even with its abrupt ending, I would recommend My Lucky Strike to readers who are looking for a refreshing college romance, especially if they enjoy a strong female lead who isn’t afraid to throw a punch, literally. Just don’t expect season 2 to focus on the main couple but rather the backstory of the male lead and the crazy sister.
